Waxed
A waxed resin is generally refered to as a finishing resin. It will cure to a hard, tack-free surface when fully cured. This type of material is generally used as a single coat, a final coat or for minor repairs.

Unwaxed
An unwaxed resin is generally referred to as a laminating resin. When fully cured, the surface will remain slightly tacky. This type of material is generally used in multiple laminations such as laying up a mold.

Orthophthalic
Orthophthalic ( ortho ) resins are the basic chemistry of polyester resins. It is a raw material utilized in general purpose polyester resin and has a type of molecular structure that is considered to be a standard in the industry.

Isophthalic
Isophthalic ( iso ) resins are higher grade resins that ortho resins in that the molecular structure is denser. It is a special raw material utilized in corrosion resistant and/or premium grade polyester resins. Thesse ressins will exhibit a higher heat distortion temperature, higher strength, greater flexibility and are more waterproof than orthophthalic resins.

FT-411

An unwaxed epoxy-based vinyl ester resin designed to provide superior toughness and high corrosion resistance. The resin can tolerate heavy design loads without causing failure from resin damage, exhibits high impact strength and is resistant to a wide range of acids, alkalis, bleaches and solvents which allows extensive use in many chemical processing industry applications. HETRON 197

A fire retardant resin which exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in acidic and oxidizing environments. Generally used in the manufacture and repair of S.M.C. parts.

M.E.K.P.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide is an organic peroxide needed to initiate the cure of polyester resins and gelcoats.

PROMOTER "W"

A specially formulated additive that can be mixed with polyester resin and gelcoat to speed both gel time and cure time in cooler temperatures. After adding Promoter "W" always allow a minimum of 1/2 hr for resin to sit before adding catalyst

COBALT PROMOTER 12%

Used as an additive to speed up both gel time and cure time of polyester resin and gelcoat, but not to the same extent of Promoter "W". After adding Cobalt always allow a minimum of 1/2 hr for resin to sit before adding catalyst.

DMA PROMOTER

For use in speeding up gel time only where a fast gel time is needed to avoid slumping but a longer curing time to avoid shrinkage. After adding DMA always allow a minimum of 1/2 hr for resin to sit before adding catalyst.

BPO PASTER CATALYST WHITE

This catalyst is needed to initiate the cure of marble bonding resin (FT-152) and most automotive putties (eg. Bondo, etc.)

AIR DRY ADDITIVE

An additive used to convert unwaxed polyester resins and gelcoats into a waxed product, enabling them to cure to a hard, tack-free surface.

CASCO-RESIN^® 5H WITH CASCOSET^® FM-96A

CR 5H mixed with FM-96A, produces a light colored, medium-length usable life adhesive mixture recommended for cold set gluing and hot pressing, as well as for radio frequency curing of pine, Douglas fir and Alder lumber face and edge joints. For hot pressing, a mix of 10 to 15 parts FM-96A with 100 parts CR 5H is recommended. For radio frequency gluing, 15 to 20 parts FM-96A per 100 parts CR 5H works best.

FEATHERITE

Feather-Rite is a fast curing lightweight, filled polyester putty that is easily sanded and faired. Feather-Rite comes complete with its own colored BPO paste catalyst for easy mixing. Extra catalyst is available.

DURAGLASS

Duraglas is a strong, glass filled waterproof polyester putty that is somewhat sandable. Duraglas comes with its own colored BPO catalyst for easy mixing. Extra catalyst is available.

LONG N STRONG

Long N Strong is the strongest of the waterproof polyester putties as it has a high fiberglass strand content. Use where strength is required. Comes with its own colored BPO catalyst for easy mixing. Extra catalyst is available.

POLY-FAIR F26™

Poly-Fair F26 is a waterproof. low density polyester-based fairing compound formulated for the marine environment. It has excellent adhesion to cured fibre-reinforced polyester and vinylester laminates. It sands easily, gives a hard finish after a full cure, yet is not brittle and has good impact strength. It is also a suitable base for all marine finishes such as polyester, urethane and epoxy paints. Requires MEKP Catalyst.     Poly-Fair F26 is only sold in a 19 liter (5 gal) pail.

POLY-BOND™

Poly-Bond B46F is a polyester-based, glass reinforced waterproof adhesive developed for the marine industry. Typical applications a re hull-to-deck joints, bonding of interior liners and engine stringers, strake fillers, and fillers for rudders and keels. Poly-Bond B46F is non sagging, light weight, 100% waterproof, has excellent impact strength, low exotherm, low shrinkage, is Glassfibre reinforced for greater cohesive strength and comes with a colored BPO paste for easier mixing. Poly-Bond B46F is only sold in a 19liter(5gal) pail.

CORE-BOND^®

Core-Bond is a specially formulated polyester-based core bedding compound developed for both hand-layup and vacuum bag core installation. Lightweight and non sagging, Core-Bond is supplied with its own pigmented BPO catalyst and is formulated to the degree of elasticity required for the core to skin interface. With a shrinkage of less than 1%. Core-Bond significantly reduces the possibility of print through. You must always prime the core surface with polyester resin and catalyst to provide a thorough cure and good cohesion. Core-bond is only sold in a 19 liter(5 gal) pail.
